About Peripet Learning
More than 2300 years ago, Aristotle popularized the term "peripeteia." He defined it as a reversal of fortune -- the light at the end of the tunnel, or the sunshine in a rainstorm.
In instructional design, it's the sudden "aha!" moment we try to create for our learners, where they finally feel the motivation, confidence, and capability to be better tomorrow than they are today.
But that moment isn't reserved for learners. We all need peripeteia -- when projects go south, when funding dries up, or when markets turn.
These moments are not determined by instructional design models, strategies or tools, they are defined by the engagement between the humans working to empower other humans through quality instructional products. While not accidental, these are all too often left to chance. We believe the fundamental key to the success of the product, the team and eventually the company, is fortunately human.
Drawing on the experience and leadership of Richard Sites, Ed.D., the mission of Peripet Learning is to develop, promote and support the activities of instructional design teams across all industries. We seek to empower these teams to be more efficient, responsive, and ultimately more successful.
